Here attached the list of awards as judged by BIOLMIEL 2011 international jury. For monofloral honeys the required score went from 80 to 90/100 for Silver Medals and from 90 to 100/100 for Gold Medals, while for polifloral the corresponding two categories were 75-85/100 and > 85/100. Were excluded from the awards, as per BIOLMIEL regulation, honeys with a water content over 18% and/or HMF content over 10 mg/kg.

Acacia honey of the Az. Agr. Marco Tonelli is BIOLMIEL 2011 winner

On the 9 of December BIOLMIEL 2011 closed in Cosenza (Calabria, Italy) with the participation of more than 170 honeys coming mostly from Italy but also from Greece (largely represented), Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany, Israel, Lebanon, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey. The international jury tasting sessions were held in the laboratories of the Mediterranean Faculty of Agriculture located within the Agro Food Centre of Lamezia Terme (Cosenza, Italy).

First classified was acacia honey of the Az. Agr. Marco Tonelli (Lucca), while the second place went to lavender honey of Albero della Vita Apicoltura di Marco Carpinteri (Asti) and the third-place ex-aequo went to thyme honey of Apipuglia and to citrus honey of Calabrian company Armonia di Scrivo Giorgio (Reggio Calabria).

For BIOLPACK, the recognition to best packaging and labelling, first classified was the Greek company Corfu Beekeeping Vasilakis. The design of the winnining packaging and labelling is by Greek designer Cryssa Calikiopoulou.

This year among BIOLMIEL events there was also a honey tasting course, held at IGEA premises in Sant’Onofrio (Vibo Valentia, Italy) that saw many participants, especially among Calabria beekeepers; to all participants to this training, that included also a session of food preparing with honey as main ingredient, was issued a participation certificate.

As closing event, on the 9 of December a workshop was held under the title “The future of food. Biodiversity, taste and health: the organic beekeeping case” at the end of which were communicated this edition winners.

This edition was organized by BIOLITALIA and IGEA srl, with the collaboration of CRA-API di Bologna (Italy), of C.I.bi. and ICEA, under the patronage of Italian Ministry of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies and AgriBioMediterraneo.

 
BIOLMIEL Calabria program PDF Print E-mail

Here in attachment (in Italian) the program of the fifth edition of BIOLMIEL, that involves not only the prize awarding, but is rich in interesting events both for technical personnel working in high quality honey sector, and for consumers that are honey enthusiast.

Corso di analisi sensoriale del miele al BIOLMIEL di Vibo Valentia PDF Print E-mail

BIOLITALIA, con la collaborazione di IGEA srl, dell’Albo Nazionale Esperti Analisi Sensoriale Miele e del CRA-Api di Bologna, organizza un corso di analisi sensoriale del miele che sarà tenuto dal Dr. Raffaele Dall’Olio.

Il corso, che si terrà dal 5 al 9 dicembre 2011 a Vibo Valentia, è rivolto sia ad operatori del settore che a tecnici che a consumatori.

Al termine del corso sarà rilasciato un attestato che consente di accedere ai successivi corsi di perfezionamento per l’iscrizione all’Albo Nazionale degli Esperti in Analisi Sensoriale del Miele.

The fifth edition of BIOLMIEL to be held in Vibo Valentia (Calabria, Italy) PDF Print E-mail

The next edition of BIOLMIEL will be held on the week of 7-10 December in Vibo Valentia (in Calabria, Italy). Also for this edition, as usual, organic honeys coming from all over the world will be analysed and tasted by an international jury.

The competition will end with both the awarding of best organic honeys in the different categories (unifloral, polifloral and honeydew) and the issuance of BIOL HIGH QUALITY attestation, awarded only to honeys that according to the jury attained excellent levels.

Participation to the prize is, as usual, for free.
